16 trillion dollars needed by 2040

OPEC Secretary General, HE Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, recently gave an interview to the Petroleum Review. Appearing in the February edition of the magazine, the Secretary General provided insights into the role of OPEC, the outlook for the oil market and the future of the global energy mix. “Looking towards the future, oil and gas will (…) make up an estimated 53% of the global energy mix by 2040. (Before that) an estimated 10 trillion dollars in oil-related investments will be required, and for gas, roughly 6 trillion dollars,” said Barkindo.
