Despite the terrorist attacks and the deterioration of the social environment, France has managed the unlikely feat of remaining the world’s top tourist destination. Approximately 83 million tourists visited France in 2016 compared to 85 million in 2015, down just about 2 million. “This is good news for France as our survey conducted in Paris by mid-summer brought really bad results,” commented Charles Rault, founder of Cyceon. “A great deal of work remains to be done to ensure France remains a global destination,” stressed Jean-Marc Ayrault, French Minister for Foreign Affairs.
