US Trade Secretary Wilbur Ross unexpectedly canceled his planned visit to Berlin on June 27, 2017, a week and a half away from a G20 summit that Germany is hosting, said the German Ministry of Economy without saying why. This unforeseen cancellation comes as the disagreement between Washington and Berlin on trade and environmental issues is growing. “We do not currently have points of convergence on climate and free trade issues,” said Chancellor Angela Merkel, for whom US President Donald Trump has a “very different” view of globalization than hers. The G20 will take place in Hamburg (Germany) on 7-8 July 2017.
