For the year ended December 31, 2019, worldwide network services billed business (spending on American Express cards issued by third parties) was $170 billion and at December 31, 2019, it had 44 million cards-in-force issued by third parties worldwide. Delta Air Lines (DAL) is the company’s largest strategic partner. The company’s relationships with, and revenues and expenses related to, Delta are significant and represent a significant source of value for its Card Members. AXP issues cards under cobrand arrangements with Delta and the Delta cobrand portfolio represented approximately 8 percent of its worldwide billed business and approximately 22 percent of worldwide Card Member loans as of December 31, 2019.
