Nike’s principal business activity is the design, development and worldwide marketing and selling of athletic footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories and services. It is the largest seller of athletic footwear and apparel in the world. It sells its products directly to consumers through Nike-owned retail stores and digital platforms and to retail accounts and a mix of independent distributors, licensees and sales representatives in virtually all countries around the world. As of 2020, it employed more than 75,400 people worldwide. In 2020 the brand alone was valued in excess of $32 billion, making it the most valuable brand among sports businesses.
